As Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar rejoined the NDA, political strategist Prashant Kishor declared that the BJP-led alliance would “clean sweep” the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In an exclusive interview with Chitra Tripathi of Aaj Tak from Bihar’s Begusarai, Prashant Kishor slammed Nitish Kumar for giving up the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD and the Congress, and said he was “playing the last innings of his life.”
Prashant Kishor, calling Nitish Kumar “cunning,” claimed that the JD(U) would not be able to win more than 20 seats in the 2025 assembly elections.
“Nitish Kumar won’t be able to win over 20 seats in the next assembly election, irrespective of whichever alliance he will be fighting for. If they get over 20 seats, then I will quit my job,” he claimed.
Nitish Kumar ended days of uncertainty on Sunday by severing ties with the RJD and the Congress, the constituents of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) government, and taking oath as Chief Minister of the NDA alliance for the record ninth time.
The JD(U) supremo joined the Mahagathbandhan in August 2022, after he severed ties with the BJP, accusing it of attempting to “split” his party.
Prashant Kishor, calling the BJP a party of flip-flops, claimed that the JD(U)-BJP alliance would fail to survive before the 2025 assembly elections.
“The people have rejected him. That is why he can do anything to save his chair,” he stated.
He claimed that the political crisis in Bihar was the BJP’s attempt to destroy the opposition INDIA bloc. He also said that if the BJP had contested alone, it would benefit them.
“In Bihar, not only Nitish Kumar, but all parties, including the BJP, are ‘paltu rams’. This development will hurt the BJP. Had it competed on its own, it would have been in a strong position to win,” the political commentator explained.
